BEACHES

In 1987 FEEE (Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe) started a programme, which was to ensure the continuation of the organisation and care of beaches. This programme is better known as the "Blue Flag" and has made great progress on Crete in the last few years (61 beaches have meanwhile received awards). As the beaches, however, are as diverse as the countryside, everyone's wish can be fulfilled.
