Kavros is situated on the National Road and is built almost alongside the village of Georgioupolis. Kavros was once fertile farming land, and mainly peanuts, melons and potatoes were cultivated in the plains.
The region was also once full of crabs and took its name from Kavros, the crab. In 1976 the village was officially named Kavros.
Today many hotels stand on this once fertile farming land. Tourism has taken over the kilometre-long sandy/shingle beach and now farmers welcome holiday guests.
The small brook running into the sea by today's petrol station dries up in summer.
