Agia Roumeli is a small fishing village on the south coast, at the far end of the Sougia, Sougia or on foot from the Omalos Plateau through the Samaria Gorge.
It has a nice beach and taverns and there is plenty of accommodation for an overnight stay. The few inhabitants make their living only from tourism and during the hiking period. For the rest of the year they are busy tending their cattle and with bee keeping.
