The small fishing village and resort of Kolimbari lies halfway between Kissamos on the east side of the Bay of Chania at the beginning of the Kissamos Peninsula.
The town of Chania as well as Kissamos are 23 km away.
The small fishing harbour is lined with (fish) tavernas and is protected by a large jetty. At the promenade begins a pebble beach, which stretches for a few kilometres towards the east.
A short distance away is the Monastery of Gonia, right next to it is the Orthodox Academy of Crete.
